Skinny Jeans are dead – long live the wide-leg jeans! Although it has been a few years now since TikTok labeled the favorite denim trend of all millennials as “uncool”, we are not tired of their trend successors – the casual, wider-cut styles. From cargo to balloon jeans, numerous baggy denim options for this fall were also seen on the runways of the fashion weeks earlier this year.
If you still think of the shapeless styles of the 90s or the absurdly wide flared pants of the 60s when you hear the term “wide-leg”, we can reassure you: the currently most popular versions of the trend combine oversized comfort with tailored and modern silhouettes. Just take a look at Tibi’s Sid jeans, which I have been eyeing since the Spring 2023 show of the New York label. The loosely fitting jeans, adorned with panel details (available in new colors and “petite” and “regular” size options for fall), are cut in such a way that they expand balloon-like in the middle and narrow again at the bottom. This makes them versatile enough to be worn with casual sneakers as well as ballerinas, stiletto sandals, and pointed boots.
To prove that baggy jeans are suitable for every occasion, I wore the Sids for an entire week. The result? They have earned a permanent place in my wardrobe – and I have numerous proof photos that show you can wear any wide-fit jeans with the right styling, anytime and anywhere.
How to style wide-leg jeans with a blazer
For a day at the office, I was inspired by Tibi’s runway show and tucked my blazer into the jeans before putting on a belt. To make flared pants even more suitable for the office, it’s best to combine the look with pointed pumps or boots. To avoid looking too business-like, I opted for zebra-print boots and a colorful handbag.

For errands on the weekend, the loose, super comfortable silhouette of the wide-leg jeans is perfect (skinny jeans, on the other hand, not so much!). Pair them with a similarly oversized shirt, a buttery soft cashmere sweater, and a reliable pair of sneakers.

I’m not a big fan of miniskirts or dresses – which is why I’m totally excited about the comeback of the elegant top that I paired with the jeans. For an even more sophisticated look, accessorize with statement accessories like a glittery bag or eye-catching shoes.

Um eine baggy Schlaghose für ein schickes Dinner oder einen besonderen Anlass aufzuwerten, trägst du den Denim-Style am besten zusammen mit seidigen, luxuriösen Stoffen, femininen Details wie Schleifen oder Blumenprints und selbstbewusst wirkenden Schuhen.

Ich wuchs zu einer Zeit auf, zu der baggy Hüftjeans überall waren. Um mich ein bisschen nostalgisch zu fühlen, schlüpfte ich dazu in andere Favoriten aus dieser Ära (siehe: die Prada Nylon-Tasche und das Crop-T-Shirt). Damit sich der Look auch für den Herbst eignet (und ein wenig erwachsener aussieht), ergänzte ich ihn durch eine Bomberjacke aus Leder und klobige Clogs.
